Dedicated in the memory of Officer Chris Cortijo from LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division (VTD) that was killed in the line of duty in April of this year.

The library’s essential function allows children a safe place to come and read available books as well as ‘take a book, leave a book’.

The event was held in the lobby of VTD where the Little Library now resides and was attended by many local parents and their children, LAPD officers, Commander Jon Peters and Los Angeles City Councilman Paul Krekorian.

After this public event was held, everyone but the general public was invited downstairs to the roll call room where Officer Chris Cortijo’s family was waiting to take part in a remodeled roll call room complete with a section dedicated to Chris Cortijo’s memory including an LAPD motor that was a replica of Officer Cortijo’s motor. Officer Cortijo was riding a motor that had a unique paint job that was only one of 3 that were used in the department so it’s presence is an automatic reminder of Chris since everyone knew Chris’ motor.
